The Victorian government has embarked on an ambitious infrastructure initiative to eliminate 110 level crossings across Melbourne by the year 2030. This undertaking is unprecedented in the state’s history, given its massive scale. So far, 80 level crossings have been successfully removed as part of this project.

Upon completion, the Sunbury, Werribee, and Frankston rail lines will join the Cranbourne, Pakenham, and Lilydale lines in becoming entirely level crossing-free. This transformation is expected to significantly impact the way Melburnians live, work, and commute.
